I've been busy packaging and mailing BILLY DOGMA & JANE LEGIT rewards. Some of you have already received and responded happily.
I don't meditate but handwriting each persons name and address creates an almost Zen-like mood in me as I take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate each and every one of my beloved backers.
I'm already crafting new ideas and scripts for my next few projects and I can't wait to tell you about them. THANK YOU for your encouragement and support.
If you didn’t make a pledge during the crowdfunding phase of the project you can order a copy of BILLY DOGMA & JANE LEGIT for $25 + shipping & handling for $8, a total of $33.

I’m a guest at my favorite comix show of the year, Baltimore Comic-con 2023!
Here is an excerpt from the announcement:
”Brandishing deep cuts of Covid Cop and Billy Dogma, Dean Haspiel will also be debuting his new character, Chest Face in The Spider-Squirrel & Trash Panda Titan-Sized Special #1, a Baltimore Comic-Con exclusive published by Xion Universe co-creator, Charlie McElvy, aided and abetted by his wife, Suzanne "The Librarian" McElvy. Meanwhile, Peter Rostovsky balances their cabal with his debut graphic novel, the critically acclaimed horror comedy, Damnation Diaries, alongside Sean Von Gorman (of comics) with The Pedestrian, Ghost Planet, and other Star Trek related materials.”
This year’s Baltimore Comicon Yearbook 2023 celebrates some of the flagship heroes and creators published by First Comics in the 1980s. I was 17-going-on-18 my senior year of high school and fortunate enough to help assist Howard Chaykin on American Flagg!, a sexy and prescient comic book that is STILL ahead of its time. It was humbling for me to try my hand at honoring these characters in a single setting (see above) that meant so much to me — and I even snuck in four of my very own creations into the mix.
My friend/writer, Scott Sickles asked me to draw BAT GENTLEMAN (conceived by Colleen Murphy) for his buddy, John Patrick Bray.
RIP Sugar Man.
The 3-part series, TELEMARKETERS, played like a cross between American Movie and All The President’s Men. Kudos to MAX and the filmmakers and producers for sticking their necks out on this horrible loop hole in America. To organize the stealth fleecing of millions of dollars by monetizing good will is pure evil. Perhaps the series will rally our representatives to make significant and proper changes that helps benefit the people who are getting scammed or just squash the scam altogether.
See you in Charm City!
love, Dean
I dig that First Comics lineup plus Dino originals! I count: Nexus, Grimjack, American Flagg, E Man, Billy & Jane, Covid Cop, the Red Hook, not sure of the rest. Badger or Dreadstar must’ve gotten bounced from this joint. Love it Dino, always good to get the updates
