Contain the Flame
Benefit for Friends of Firefighters & Hot Wood Arts
I donated a brand new piece of art called “Contain The Flame” (featuring my superhero THE RED HOOK) to help raise funds for Friends of Firefighters, and Hot Wood Arts, a creative community rebuilding after a devastating fire.
The benefit takes place at Duckworth Gallery, 169 Coffey Street in Red Hook, BKNY on Thursday, Nov 6th, 4pm - 8pm.
From the press release:
Duckworth Gallery is hosting a one-day event and launching a month-long online fundraiser supporting two vital causes:
Proceeds:
• 50% will benefit Friends of Firefighters, a nonprofit providing free mental health and wellness services to the FDNY.
• 50% will support the rebuilding of Hot Wood Arts, a community of 20 artists whose studios were recently devastated by the September 17–18 fire in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
This Thursday marks the launch of a month-long online art exhibition featuring donated works from over 30 artists. Starting Thursday, visit duckworthgallery.com to view and purchase artworks.
Join us at the gallery to show your support, meet local firefighters, connect with artists who’ve lost their studios and years of work in the fire, and explore a real fire truck (yes there will be a truck parked out front of the gallery!)
There will be art for sale, raffle prizes, and snacks and beverages donated by local businesses—plus plenty of community spirit—with all proceeds directly benefiting Hot Wood Arts and Friends of Firefighters.
There will also be a special guest, Taka, who has traveled from Japan with his Mobile Sento—a Japanese bathhouse on wheels, complete with a hot tub! His truck will also be parked out front, so bring your bathing suits! Learn more and see pictures of his creation at @mobilesento_japan.
