Good afternoon!
I spoke to Sam Stone about COVID COP at The Popverse!
Excerpts:
"No matter the genre, the root of most everything I care to write is a love story. But because there's so much backstory to set up, I didn't have a lot of space to dedicate to romance. So I developed a sentimental shorthand for everyone who comes for the chaos and rage but will leave feeling heartfelt and hopeful. Besides, who hasn't fallen back in love with their Ex while beating the heck out of each other during an acid rain storm?"
"I discovered a long time ago that the best way to confront horror is with humor. It makes the scary stuff easier to deal with and jokes help impart important messages in difficult times. Plus, one of the things comix do best is to spin bombastic yarns. One could posit I'm just following a tried and true, traditional trend of making comix. If I hadn't concocted COVID Cop, someone else would have – starring Sylvester Stallone!"

I received more awesome COVID COP fan art from artist/painter (and writer of CUBA: My Revolution, the graphic novel I drew) Inverna Lockpez (see above). I got a street-style variant from old school chum, Adam Lawrence. And another pulp-noir variant from cartoonist/studio mate, Jason Goungor (see below)!
There's only FIVE DAYS LEFT of the campaign.* Dunno if we're gonna crack $15k for that cool Covid Cop Church Key stretch goal, but you never know. A decade from now, in the Covid Cop universe, only 2% of humanity still exists -- keep hope alive.

*Once this campaign ends, I promise to quit the every other day deluge of posts and return to my regular once or twice a month schedule (…until the next Kickstarter!)
RIP Rummy.
