I got invited again to participate in the annual “Friends & Family” group art show at Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook, BK/NY this Thursday from 5-7pm. Usually I just exhibit a piece that I had hiding in the corner of my studio. Something I never intended to sell. In fact, I hardly ever sell my original art. It’s a bug; a short circuit in my brain (and heart) that won’t allow me to part with my stuff. Maybe it’s a symptom of my hoarding disease? Something I surely adopted from my father, a writer, historian, expert and collector of a specific Hollywood era. I even have a hard time letting go of commissions and celebratory cards; knowing that my art is leaving the proverbial flock.
In an effort to learn to let go, I decided to custom create two new pieces that I would exhibit and sell: “Sunny’s Super Jam” and “The Red Hook / Chop Socky.” But I won’t let go of this art for chump change. So, I’ve set a high price for those folks worth their salt (message me if interested). And for patrons (drunk or not) who really, really want an original piece of my creative DNA.
My friend/actor, Ajay Naidu stole the show as Pozzo in Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting For Godot.”
Having never seen or read Godot, I thought Lucky's gibberish speech, as interpreted by actor Jeff Biehl, was the one thing that MADE SENSE in this intentionally abstracted play. Bravo to bravura performances by everyone involved, including Paul Sparks and Michael Shannon in the lead roles. It made me wanna write a Pozzo & Lucky road trip movie (ala Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead).
Jen Ferguson is having another Open Studio in DUMBO this Saturday, December 9th from Noon - 6pm. Check out her expressive art in person and discover the perfect holiday gift for the ones you love.

I hated Waiting for Godot in high school, but have grown to love it as an adult. That sounds like the best possible cast to see perform it! I’ve been a fan of Ajay Naidu’s since seeing him on tv in LateLine (I saw Pi and Office Space after Lol). Thanks for sharing!
