Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
As I continue to sign, package and mail out copies of my new CHEST FACE comic book (and other rewards) to my lovely Kickstarter backers, I just got a message from Substack congratulating me on getting 1000 subscribers!
Wow.
1000 subscribers.
I may be small potatoes when it comes to creating stories in several mediums and “influencing” rookie and veteran creators, but I appreciate each and every one of you who champion me and my wares. My magic eight ball (or just my naked eyeballs) is predicting a turbulent 2025 — which is one of the reasons why I launched my DINO+ initiative with hopes of encouraging extra support and income (the cost of a slice of Brooklyn pizza and a cup of NYC tap water).
Check out my first paid subscriber post, “This Monster, This Man,” featuring an unpublished Fantastic Four script I wrote, and early access to my new podcast, VITO x DINO with old chum/comix writer Vito Delsante. In our recent episode (#3), we talk about a lot of different things, including “When did you quit comics?” As Vito put it, our podcast format “is based on our real life phone conversations and our time in Hang Dai Studios in Brooklyn. It’s easy to make these because these are just our typical phone calls…just with a camera on.”
Vito and I have been making comix together for over two decades and have many war stories and victories to parse and share. We have individual wisdom and experience to impart. And as we continue to dream — we keep our parlays ever present.
VITO x DINO is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, etc. New episodes will be made free a few days after they’re originally posted but you can get early access when you become a paid subscriber. Spirited conversation to keep you company while you craft your own stories into the wee hours…
